“Ways in which immigrant populations, specifically in the African diaspora affect the food systems of historically predominantly African American communities in Los Angeles and New York”

Project Abstract

This project sought to provide a physical overview of the ways in which immigrant populations in the South Bronx as well as South Los Angeles affect the food landscape of these neighborhoods and discuss the ways these diverse food environments affect the physical health of the populations explored, especially the African American population. We examined available food options at various food establishments and food programs in the target areas and analyzed demographic and health data conducted by the department of public health of the target areas.
